Welcome! New Roads, Louisiana, is the Parish Seat Of Pointe Coupee Parish. We are located 25 miles Northwest of Baton Rouge on scenic and historic False River. Our river is really an oxbow lake which was once a part of the nearby Mississippi River.
Although this parish is very rural and agricultural it is located near the population centers of Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Alexandria. Our most important products are Sugar Cane, Pecans, Soy Beans and Cotton.
False River provides an excellent venue for water sports, fishing and most recently the annual False River Powerboat Competition. This new event provides exciting spectator involvement in the Champboat, SST and smaller classes in the powerboat national circuit.
The city of New Roads hosts two Mardi Gras day parades every year so that residents and visitors can avoid the hassle of the big city.
